Hello all the Pipistrel Sinus went through the GFA system without any problems at all, it has the same requirements/conditions as the normal "Ultralight" versions with the exception of an extra 100 placards.... EVERYTHING and i mean everything now has a nice sticker telling you what it is.....    By all reports its going well in the GFA system wit a few flight around Grafton of more than 3 hours....

The Pipistrel Taurus certainly looks to be an interesting
aircraft. However the Sinus, Virus and Taurus are designed
to an ultralight spec. I have heard that there were
difficulties trying to get the Sinus / Virus certified as
motorgliders through the GFA (as opposed to certified as
ultralights). Apparently the GFA only accepts aircraft
designed to JAR-22. There were some pretty big weight and
speed limitations imposed on the Sinus / Virus if they were
to be registered as motorgliders under GFA. (I may of heard
wrong here).

Anyone know any details?

I've yet to get hold of Michael Coates to ask him what the
story was and ask whether the Taurus would ever be
redesigned to meet JAR-22. I'd certainly be interested if
it was. Perhaps even a kit for a non-self launching
version.

I wonder how well the Taurus spins? ; )
