Oh dear.

Way back in 1983 (when the juniors either didn't exist or were just learning how to breathe air and screaming their outrage at being born) I attended the 1983 SAA convention in Reno Nevada. At a session on instrumentation we discussed advanced computerised instruments. It was either Jim Weir (Radio Systems Technologies-worked on the landing radar for the Viking Mars landers ) or Richard Ball (Ball Variometers) who asked "Do we really want to send our gliders off on a cross country and ask them whether they had a good time when they get back?". Looks like we're about there.

OTGH the engineer in me says - way cool! What great project! Lets put the gear in a full size sailplane and race it against the best human pilots.
