Hi all,
In every sport there are winners and losers. Winners enjoy it, losers usually try to learn from why they lost and do better next time. In every sport there are also times when competitors feel that they were hard done by - that another competitor has cheated, or that official were wrong or biased. In every sport there are avenues of appeal - by protest at the time, to higher authorities, and even ultimately to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. In the case of the GFA there is also the Member Protection Policy which allows any member to raise issues and problems they may be having with other members or with parts of the organisation. I must say that as someone who has spent 35 years competing in and organising gliding competitions, I have very rarely seen a dispute that was not settled satisfactorily and at the time through the normal methods of penalty and protest meetings. If you are not involved in competitions today, I strongly urge you not to be put off by a single example where something went wrong. Even though this happened some time ago, there are still appropriate forums where it could be raised and dealt with. I don't think that aus-soaring is one of them. Subject: [Aus-soaring] Can people just cool down a bit, and use private messaging Hi All, I normally don't like making such posts, but the subject line says it. I suspect I am not alone Emotions are running hot on all sides regarding conduct of a certain comp. Granted, people are entitled to their viewpoints, but can the battle please be done elsewhere (use private messages)? I think it is not a good look for such a public slanging match. Not that I am a comps pilot by any stretch of the imagination, but looking at these posts circulating makes me wonder: 1) Why would I ever want to be in one? 2) Why should my GFA dues help sponsor such ventures if it results in such venom? Head poking above parapet, please don't shoot it off! Michael _____ No virus found in this message.
