Speaking of which - what has happened to the layout of the GFA website? Has
it gone under new ownership?

Not long ago it got a revamp and was looking slick(er) and more professional
- now it looks terrible.

Agreed - a big red button drawing a visitor's eye to "accidents and
incidents" is not such a good idea.

Hi Grietje

Better you refer them to http://www.soaring.org.au as they may get to the
GFA website and the first thing they will see is the red stamp that says
accident a huge turn off for any new person to aviation.

The first paragraph small text centred (baffled look on my face) does try
direct them to http://www.soaring.org.au time and time again web developers
who are glider pilots have offed to help to rectify the GFA web image.

Sydney gliding does offer training they operate weekends and have 2 motor
gliders http://www.sydneygliding.com.au/trial_info.aspx

Dear All,

I often receive email from people who would like to do a joy flight (I am
sure it is called different these days, AEF?) or ab initio course.

We don't do that so I tell them to go to Tocumwal or Benalla.
But there are also requests for flying close to Sydney.

Which club should I refer to?
I always mention the GFA website as well.

Regards,
Grietje

Southern Cross is the main club that does ab initio courses as well as
AEFs. Sydney Gliding basically just do joy flights in motor gliders. They
don't have a "club" as such where they train people to fly. Both operate
out of Camden.

Further afield from Sydney you have Mangrove Mountain, Bathurst or the
club down near Goulburn, whose name escapes me now.
