Re the hub motor, it rains almost constantly in the UK and as a result, the grass is green and long.
The heat generated by such a motor would be quite a lot… many kilowatts. The huge advantage of this is when taking off from a Australian paddock, you might start a fire on take-off and then be able to stow the noisy jet, and thermal up and away on the plume.
