I tried it with GNU ed 1.19 from Debian bookworm and it was terminated by SIGPIPE. Also got SIGPIPE on Solaris 11.4 and macOS. I see that the standard says the behaviour on SIGPIPE for ex is unspecified, so perhaps we should do the same for ed.
