TJ, AFAIR with Wiki Publisher you /can/ put stuff directly on the wiki
but the old fashioned output (Save As ... Type "Mediawiki Markup" [or
similar IIRC] ) is still possible.

I have read it somewhere, too. But if I look at OOo's export (as
well as its "Save as") options, it seems not possible anymore ... :(

I looked again and I find it as a file format in the Export dialog under
File> Export, where it was before. Using OOo3.2.1 on Ubuntu 10.04 with
Sun Wiki Publisher 1.1 installed.

Thank you all for your very useful contributions; it's saved me a lot of trial-and-error.

I can confirm that the Sun Wiki Publisher (SWP) does provide a local-output capacity, as File > Export... > File Format > MediaWiki (.txt), which leaves the general work flow unchanged. Hence, my cleanup macros should still be useful.

*Immediate plans:* Update the macros, including removal of all styles within tables. New version(s) of the macros will be posted on the wiki:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/User:TJFrazier/WikiBasic
This may take a day or two.

*Longer range:* I note with some amusement that the SWP hasn't solved the picture problem, either. I am still working on that, but the biggest problem is errors (bugs), in Writer and the API. I can code around them, but it's messy, and tricky, and has to come out again ... Bah.

What I am aiming for (comments and suggestions *very* welcome) is:
1) Macro user supplies a phrase, like "WG3_C13_"
2) Code saves all pictures with sequential numbers added, and references to the generated names in the wiki output. ("WG3_C13_01", &c.) 3) User uploads (multiple file feature) all pictures, and everything works. I may be able to supply a list of file names for cut&paste, to make the upload easier.
Again, DHYB: serious risk of turning blue.
