I just realised that I may have misinterpreted this question when I
answered earlier. To indicate on the task list that you have started or
finished something, just edit whatever is there for a chapter; put your
name and the start date in the appropriate columns. If the chapters are
not on individual rows in the list, add rows as needed for them.

I hope that made some sense. If not, ask again. I'm not feeling terribly
coherent at the moment.
