The list of authors' names is one single paragraph, with new-line characters at the end of each name. Shift+Enter creates a new line. If you turn paragraph markers on, you should see either a new-line character (on my Ubuntu setup, it looks like the mark on the Enter key) or nothing at the end of those lines, and a paragraph marker (backwards P) at the end of the list.
