What version of ant are you using? I believe xdoclet requires ant1.5 - is this
what you are using?

you can use the "export" command in CVS. However if you use this you will end
up downloading the whole source tree everytime you do an export. Anyways I
think you can just use it like "checkout" except do an export instead.
