It's implicit.
Of course it's component metadata, isn't it all about components?

I'm really not sure that "key" is a simplification.

Is java.lang.Object an Object, or a class?
A Class.

And is Object a class or the /name/ of a class?

name=key

It's natural to use the description of something as its moniker.

"It is a new term" is not enough for a -1, nor even an explanation.
