I already check all these, I think it might have been my motherboard,
I swapped it out for a new one with a duron 800 cpu (vs. amd k6-2 450)
with same drives, same ram, same OS install same X set up and my benchmark
results went from 20 mbps to 160+, there is NO WAY I should get an 800%
speed increase between these 2 set ups.

there was about 5% speed increase when I switched from 4.0.3 to 4.0.99.4

thanks for filling me in on your benchmark numbers, there was def
something wrong here I guess!
