Why havn't you upgraded to slackware current? Aviplay and Mplayer are working
perfectly for me (Slackware7.1 upgraded with autoslack to slackware current).
Since Aviplay currently dosn't support mpegs and opendivx I still need
mplayer but I want to pay both teams great compliment, they really have done
a great job!
As Arpi already said downgrade you compiler and use avifile from cvs (but be
patient with the cvs version if it doesn't work immediately, wait one day and
download it again -- sometime I have also problems to get the current version
working but before I have written an error report it is already working
again).
Why didnt't the alsa-drivers work? Did you use the 0.5.x one and not the 0.9x
ones (I can't compile the 0.9x ones). Since you also had problems with the
kernel drivers could it be possible that there is something wrong with your
soundcard?
