I have no problems on RH, CVS from about 2 days ago. ./autogen.sh &&
./configure && make && make install works, no need for tricks.
If you are using older RH than 7.1, upgrade is highly recommended. 7.0 has
lots of bugs and 6.2 has a gcc that tends to produce corrupt multimedia stuff.
