SDL has native support for ALSA.

It's really a good idea to read doc for libraries you are installing.

Use 'alsa'  audio driver

When I load any avi files now, it complains "Audiostream not detected" on

there have been minor bug in audio stream detection on some Mp3 streams
and should be already fixed in CVS.

I check the CVS, but it does this on every file I have, and I have files in several formats.
Don't know what the sound format is, though.

It's using SDL - check the start log (in case you have some doubts)
