Hi Zdenek, I was actually the person who posted the bug report on sourceforge.
I've managed to get sound to work again-- I don't really know how. All I did was open up the Configure dialog in the player and moved some of the codecs about. :) Voila, I have sound again. The only thing I can guess is that my .avirc perhaps was old/corrupt and that confused the player? I hadn't visited the Configure dialog in a long long time. It's just a guess. Anyways, i love avifile.
