You are wrong - avi could easily coexist with ogg audio stream and
actually it's support for playing for a long time.
But as myself I'm not a big fun of ogg I'll implemenent recording
once I'll think there is nothing better to do :)

Check playback of ogg and read AVI doc and you will see how easy it is.
