Me and my friend have same problem.
Some time after quit avifile, my cursor lost and only restart X can help.
I have MatroxG400 and Ati Mach64, XFree4.2, native XFree drivers and using
xinerama.
My friend have GeForce2-MX and when start new avifile (after cursor lost)
cursor is back (and after quit cursor is OK). He has drivers from nvidia
(last drivers).
