(sorry if this mail is long) I am using avfile/avicap versions:
libavifile0.7-0.7.29-1mdk gstreamer-avi-0.6.0-3mdk avifile-player-0.7.29-1mdk avifile-samples-0.7.29-1mdk under Linux Mandrake 9.1 I can watch TV using avicap no problem. I guess it uses some kind of xawtv setting (?). I managed to record using MJPEG codec and audio but the file was very large. My problem now is that it can't pick up other codecs such as DivX etc. I have put binariesxxxx.zip in /usr/lib/win32, but avicap only shows about 5 defaut codecs (yu12, yu2, OS MJPG, RGB, etc). Do you think this is because Mandrake compiled it not to look at /usr/lib/win32 for more codecs? My directory listing of /usr/lib/avifile0.7/ is: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 703 Feb 6 10:20 ac3pass.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 10264 Feb 6 10:20 ac3pass.so* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 709 Feb 6 10:20 audiodec.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 34944 Feb 6 10:20 audiodec.so* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 701 Feb 6 10:20 ffmpeg.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1091136 Feb 6 10:20 ffmpeg.so* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 752 Feb 6 10:20 mad_audiodec.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 14576 Feb 6 10:20 mad_audiodec.so* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 711 Feb 6 10:20 mjpeg.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 24116 Feb 6 10:20 mjpeg.so* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 739 Feb 6 10:20 mpeg_audiodec.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 127872 Feb 6 10:20 mpeg_audiodec.so* drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 560 Jun 9 17:32 vidix/ -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 815 Feb 6 10:20 vorbis_audio.la* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 12988 Feb 6 10:20 vorbis_audio.so* I never ran kv4lsetup because I can watch TV in every other program without any problem such as xawtv. Why do I need to run this? Other AVI files play OK - for that I use Mplayer (mandrake 0.9rc4 version) My linux version is: Linux duron 2.4.21-0.13mdk #1 Fri Mar 14 15:08:06 EST 2003 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux I am using XFREE 4.3-5mdk Bttv dump using dmesg is Linux video capture interface: v1.00 bttv: driver version 0.7.100 loaded bttv: using 4 buffers with 2080k (8320k total) for capture bttv: Host bridge is Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 730 Host bttv: Bt8xx card found (0).
