There are plans in the works to make it even easier than that. - avr-libc API to specify fuse settings in your application code, with possible user-friendly identifiers - fuse settings will be embedded in the ELF output file of your application - teach avrdude to read the ELF file, and the embedded fuse settings and do "all-in-one" programming.
