Yes, I had realised that I had better try doing any experiments with an installation under windows. If I dont run into too much trouble (I only have an XP machine easily accessible), I will try - always good to look what other people wanted to do.
I think that a prototype should not be too hard to make (many things exist that I can simply re-use) and be a good base for discussion on whether and how to continue.
