Nope, the STK500 is hardwired to 115200 Bd, because the STK's firmware
cannot run at any other speed.

You could add -vvvv (for options "v") to the commandline, this will
show you the communications trace.  Perhaps you can get an idea what
actually happens on the RS232 adapter then.
