Bob, I don't know anything about Thunderbird/3.1.4, but would it be
convenient to set your MUA to just leave the subject as "Re: [avr-chat]
...", as everyone else is doing? All the "Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re:" pollution
is making each of your posts start a new thread.
An alternative would be to set Thunderbird to behave normally w.r.t.
In-Reply_To and References headers. The failure to include them denies
recipient MUAs primary threading information, making it hard to round up
all the loose posts, spread about instead of being collected in one
thread.
Sorry if it's hard to tame Thunderbird.
