Folks, It has happened: mint8 is dead. At least it cries from its grave, for when you compile (>=4.5.1) with the option it roars with thunder:
<built-in>:0:0: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault Please submit a full bug report, with preprocessed source if appropriate. See <http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions. what a wunderfull end: "You try to kick me out huh? well let me kick you out!". Btw, it was not all that silent, if you know where to look: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=46261 But i regret it although mint8 was a hack; we had no other decent option to do 8 bit arithmetic. In the rush of getting the gcc compiler better...stronger...faster they seem to forget that there developers out there who still want to press there code into a few KB. Would it be possible at all to extend gcc in such a way that it would support 8 bit arithmetic?
