Playing around is not my kind of learning... (its not efficient one that's for sure.. ) ... but I guess it can't be helped.
Why not... you ask: well.. thats because it is time consuming work. And its one thing to do it while learning... and another - after it... its just.. I know myself... :) am pretty sure that after learning I will be busy writing interesting 3d stuff.. instead of writing documentations.. Anyway. thanks for job you do.
