Hi Dave,
I think that you have to get good level of knowledge in as3, before
diving into 3D.
I don't know what's your level in java and how fast you'll learn about
as3/java differences and similarity,
but for me the fact is that 3D in flash is always 30% as3
understanding and 20% 3D (trig, matrix, pipeline...).
it's POO, so 2D or 3D, grab a book...
