it sounds to me that you are almost there :)

--> make sure camera is far enough to see the model (not inside)
--> object size not microscopic or gigantic
--> let camera look at object
--> trace meshes positions in your enterfame etc etc...
--> set prop debug on and bothsides on to make sure you would see the geometry 
if in viewport.
