Uhm, what is the problem with the width being about 30 chars when starting?
I just installed emacs, ran it under xtrace and the size that it is requesting
is: ConfigureWindow window=0x03600012 values={width=924 height=802}
That size seems to be about 30 chars.
So is this just emacs default size?
