To sit for any Axapta exam, you'll need the foundation from the e- Academy. Having done a few pre-sales will give you a solid product understanding. To pass the certifications, you will preferably attend a classroom training from a CTEC (in this case, T&L is a 5 day class). And you will have to practice for a month or two before even considering sitting for the exam. Even better, you should participate in an implementation of the module. In short, if you are a well prepared consultant, you will pass.
