I had the same probelm. Its a bug ( as per Girish) in Ax3.0
 
You can solve it by..( 100 % guaranteed)
 
1.go to GL\Paramaters\Number Seq tab.
select JOurNUm and go to main table and on the right hand side you have " LIst" button,
click on "List" and delete all the Entries.
 
See, thre are some freed numbers ( out of the pool) , but the system is not recognizing them...
 
I quarantee this to solve your problem...
Let me know if you cannot...

When choosing a journal name, the message "Journal name may not be changed when vouchers have been created" comes up and one cannot proceed further. Stangely enough this is a new company with no transactions in yet (just master data present). I tried to go into table Custtrans on the AOT and when trying to produce an Auto report on it,it says "table 9 does not exist". The same problem occurs for vendor
