Using the standard axapta class you could create a system where you encode a
number sequence into a barcode string, this number sequence can be a key to a
record which stores other infomation about the item the barcode is being used
for. then later when the barcode is scanned into a field, you could use the
modified method to capture the input and query it on the barcode table, then
you could retrieve the rest of the data identifying the item. Of course is the
barcode did not originate from axapta, you would need to write a method to
decode the barcode string. by parsing the string character by character.

  I hope this helped.

  Hi,
This is an urgent request. Could anybody give me an insight as to how
complex the process of implementing Axapta to support inventory management
using the barcode functionality. There is a basic functionality of providing
a barcode for each item. But there is no clear picture as to how, scanning
can enter lines into a document(say Packing Slip).
Thanks
