I've worked both Axapta and SAP. SAP is extremely flexible to configure at set up but after that it's much harder work than Axapta to customize on the fly. The plus to this is that technical support has seen u're problem before, whereas in Axapta MBS support is much much less responsive, due to customization every customer has unique problems.
It boils down to people who like to keep the business up and running versus people who like to play with software. Bottom line, I think Axapta is too flexible and SAP is too inflexible, but if it were my business and all things were equal, I'd go with SAP, not being a fan of 'unique' (usually meaning 'crazy') business processes. The very inflexibilty of the software actually discourages knee-jerk reactions, allows some evaluation time.
