  So, "National" protocol worked finally? If so, that's all due to
work of Philipp Zabel and Anton Vorontsov!

  We'll need to do more tweaks to it for sure, but I'm glad theory
that SSP protocols mostly equivalent works.

The main difference is that Motorola SPI is full duplex, while
National Semiconductor Microwire is not. TSC2046 supports both full
duplex communication in its
16clock / 15clock per conversion modes as well as Microwire in
16clock per conversion mode.

I still can't get SPI mode to work when
reading/writing 3x 8bit values instead of 1x 24bit :(
