By the way, will it make any difference (in terms of performance etc.)
if I leave the AxKit running which I compiled with the -g on OPTIMIZE or
can I leave it as it is, with no side effects?

Looks like a problem in libxml or XML::LibXML. What Version of
XML::LibXML and
libxml do you use? And does any other apache module use libxml, too,
possibly
a different version (doesn't PHP do? I don't know, though)?
