Hello group, I am new to this group and Azores research. My husband's maternal grandfather was Joseph C. Vincent. The earliest I have found him in U.S. census is 1920 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. The year of immigration is listed as 1915 and his age is listed as 27. In the 1930 Bristol County, Massachusetts census his year of immigration is listed as 1910 and his age is not readable.
This is what I know of Joseph..He married Rosa Vieira Macedo about 1915 most likely in Bristol County, Massachusetts. They lived in Bristol County, Massachusetts and moved to East Providence, Rhode Island where they lived out their final years. My husband's mother, Ethel May Vincent Bowers, was born in Rhode Island in May of 1931. Joseph died in 1974 in Riverside, Rhode Island. Rosa (Rose) Vieira Macedo Vincent was born in Somerset, Massachusetts, 29 January 1895 and died in East Providence, Rhode Island 16 June 1976. This information came from a newspaper obituary. Although Rosa was born in the U.S., she is listed as an alien in 1920 census. I have been unable to find her with parents in 1910. I am sure there are many spellings of Macedo and I might be missing her because of this. I have searched all the Ships passengers lists that I can find and have yet to find Joseph Vincent on any. I would love to know what ship he immigrated on and to what port. Also, anything on his family in Fayal. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help sort out this ramblings of mine.
