LJardine, What did his death certificate say about his parents? Did it say if he was a naturalized citizen? If not, he had to file for the Smith Act (Alien Registration) in 1940. Have you done census work? You'll need to start with the 1930 and work back in time. The censuses will give an immigration year. Did he marry in America or the Azores?
