If you think they married in New Bedford, you need to check St. John the
Baptist church for their marriage.  Ask if they will photocopy the entry out
of the book and if not, ask if they will type up everything verbatim (even
if it's in Latin) for you.  There's a period of time where they wrote down
the freguesia (village) from where the newlywed came.  If they mail you the
paper certificate, it just says the bride married the groom on this date by
the priest with X & Y as witnesses.  If it's not at St. John's try Mt.
Carmel (or is it Our Lady of Carmel?)
