I don't know if this is the right explanation but I think the change
of names is because Portuguese always translate  names. If you are an
Elizabeth in England, you'll be called Isabel ,in Portugal - they do
it all  the time with the british royal family: Rainha Isabel (Queen
Elizabeth), Principe Felipe (Prince Phillip) , Principe Carlos,
Principe Andre and Principe Eduardo. As some names (Arsenio for
instance) are probably non existing in the English language, they
translate to the nearest in sound...LOL - makes sense...
