You may try looking in the area of Manadas, Sao Jorge for one of the Azevedo
lines.
I have a Marianna Joaquina Silveira, but her spouse is Manuel Machado
Azevedo in the early 1800s.
Do you know if she possibly was married before or after Jorge?
That is what happened with my grandmother, her husband Joao Machado Azevedo,
of Manadas, came to Gustine, CA - married and had 6 children. The last birth
from his first wife was twins, and she died a few weeks later. My
grandfather then went back and married my grandmother and brought her here
to raise her 6, then she had 7 more - one set of twins died within a month
of birth, the second set of twins - and her last children - were my mother
and uncle. He died a month before they were born.
Ah, the stories and hard lives they lived... and thrived.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] AZEVEDO PEREIRA BRICK WALL

The Church of the Sea in Sausalito, CA has been very helpful. I was
able to get copies of marriage's and births.
>From my grandfathers side:
Jorge Joseph Pereira Azevedo and Marianna Joaquina Silveira were from
Sao Jorge. They had 6 sons and 1 daughter. I cannot find the town
they were from. Most had settled in Marin County CA by 1860. I know
Marianna was there but Jorge may have died in Sao Jorge.
Most are buried in the cemetary on the hill outside of Sausalito.

>From my grandmothers side:

Joseph Oliveira and Contancia de Azevedo married in Sao Jorge and went
to Honolulu. My grandmother was the oldest of several children. She
was born in Honolulu in 1882. At the age of 5 the family moved to
Sausalito where her father worked for the city street dept.
Contancia's sister married a Teixeira. They are buried in the same
Sausalito cemetary.

My question is how do I find the town they were originally from on Sao
Jorge? I've hit a brick wall on both families. By the way I remember
hearing as a child that the Azevedo families were not related. But
perhaps they are.
