I am also trying to find information out about the Vieira family - Joseph
Vieira from the Azores, married Theresa Simmiss (Simas).
I have come to a blank wall - not sure where to go to.... if you happen to
get any information that may be of these people, while you are researching
for Mary, could you please forward it on. I live in New Zealand and am
finding it quite hard to research from here.

I am trying to get some more information on Mary F. Vieira (Vierra in
census) from Oakland, California. What I know is that she was born
approximately 1867 in Sao Jorge, Azores and she died on May 25, 1958.
I believe her maiden name was Faustina, because she had a brother, my
gg grandfather, Joseph Foster aka Jose Faustino who also lived in
Oakland during the same time, and was married to Luzia Souza Neto. Her
husband was Frank Vieira (Vierra). They were married in 1884 i think.
Their children were Frank, Mamie (Mary) Vierra Lewis, William and
Lewis. I am trying to figure out what town on Sao Jorge she was from,
what her parents names were, and when she immigrated. The 1900 census
says she immigrated in 1882.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
