Ah, but for some interesting news and a twist on Mr Andre Costa
Furtado. I believe he only married twice. But this is not due to you
memory, rather it is because his records are intricately bound up with
another Andre Furtado (Sousa) of Ponta Garca, and it is indeed very
difficult to determine which is which. One is Andre Furtado Sousa who
was married to Escolastica Medeiros and whose marriage record is
missing. I figure there is a page or two missing from the Ponta Garca
records somewhere between 1748 and 1751 . I believe he was the son of
Manuel Sousa Furtado and Maria Botelho Furtado. And the other is
Andre Costa Furtado who married twice: once to Catarina Oliveira and
the other to Catarina Matos (Costa)
I can't recall which is yours (CRS), so forgive me and indulge me with
your memory!

As I remember from a few years ago, (I do have CRS, so please feel free
to correct my memory), Shirley Allegre and I began to explore Andre Costa
Furtado, born Sept. 28, 1701, Agua da Pau, Sao Pedro, VFDC Sao Miguel,
Azores/Shirley. As we (mostly Shirley) searched, it was discovered that
Andre had married 3 times and had 16 (I think) children.
Andre married Catarina de Matos, Dec. 14, 1725
Catarina de Oliviera, Sept. 21, 1744 and
Escolastica de Medeiros, between 1749 - 1751.
My husband, Bob, descends from both Catarina de Olviera and Escolastica
de Medeiros. I don't remember if Diana Silva is part of this group;
however, during our sharing of information, I learned that both of Bob's
grandmothers were distant cousins. I am sure neither knew that fact even
though both were born in Sao Miguel. One was born in Lomba da Santa
Barbara (the elusive Maria Cristo) and the other in Lagoa.

To the best of my memory, Shirley, Cheri Melo, John Rois, Richard Francis
Pimentel and I are descendents of Andre. The emails were hot and heavy
and someone called us the "Ponta Garca Gang."
