Besides the variations in the spelling, sometimes there are also mistakes. In my program (and possibly in yours) there is "also known as" and there I put the variation or mistaken name and the year found as such. You can also put it in the "notes" for that person. That has helped me with verifying or confirming that someone is who I think they are.
