I have Eliseu helping me on this. I hope to hear soon, but I do have Mariano married to Maria do Carmo. This shows on Antonio's passport. Does that help on deciphering which Mariano we are talking about? Linda

Linda’s great grandfather was Marianno Furtado and was from Ribeira Grande. We have search and have found but have not verified a Marianno born 29 Mar 1868 in Ribeirinha the son of Francisco Pimentel and Maria da Conciecao (Furtado). This Marianno is the brother of my Great Grandfather who went by the name Francisco Pimentel Furtado. We are guessing that if this Linda’s Marianno then on the information she has the Pimentel was dropped and he simply went by Marianno Furtado. We have been searching for his marriage but it was after 1883 and the records are not on film, so until the archives are searched we simply do not know for sure who the parents of Marianno Furtado are. I just in the last week have found another Marianno in Ribeirinha and have not told Linda but he was born 14 Feb 1857 the son of Jose Furtado and Rosa de Jesus. This Marianno would be the younger brother of Maria da Conciecao who married Francisco Pimentel. In either case the most likely age wise is the Marianno born 29 Mar 1868. So if either of these Marianno’s is Linda’s then we are related with a common ancestor of Joao Furtado and Elena Rosa. I only know about your maternal line that goes back to João Rebelo and Maria Travassos, our common ancestors. I am just curious about your paternal line because I don´t know yet how it connects to João Furtado. Manoel 2010/7/28 Linda Norton <patli...@verizon.net> That would mean our 4thgrandfather were brothers so why wouldn't we have the connection? Unless you mean there wa another Joao Furtado?? João was brother of my 4th gfather José Furtado son of Vicente Furtado and Ana Furtado m. on 20 Aug 1781 in Vila Franca do Campo - SMA. Vicente Furtado line leads back to Aleixo Furtado from Ponta Garça born c. 1600, and Ana Furtado line leads back to Margarida Furtado from Vila Franca do Campo born c. 1670. Manoel 2010/7/25 Linda Norton <patli...@verizon.net> So that would make Miguel de Noia our common ancestor? I didn´t know that Miguel de Noia married with Ursula Rodrigues in Rosario, Lagoa. Margarida Furtado, my ancestor from Vila Franca, was daughter of Manuel Rodrigues Noia and Maria de Matos m. on 28 Oct 1666 in Vila Franca (S. Pedro). Manuel Rodrigues Noia was son of Simião Correia and Maria Rodrigues and I couldn´t find their marriage record in Vila Franca. One never knows, but Maria Rodrigues probably was daughter of Miguel de Noia and Ursula Rodrigues. There are two Marias baptized in Vila Franca-S. Miguel Arcanjo, daughters of Miguel de Noia and Ursula Rodrigues. One of them was baptized on 13 Jun 1616 and the other one was baptized on 23 Jul 1621. I have so many Rodrigues coming down; Sebastiao Rodrigues m. to Maria Manuel, Hyronima Dias and to Catarina Velho. Not sure if they were brothers and/or second marriages. They were from Sao Pedro, Vila Franca. Then there is Antonio Rodrigues around 1700 from Matriz R.G. m. to Brisida Resendes. I'm wondering if any of these are connected to my ggrandfather, Manuel de Andrade de Almeida Rodrigues from Sao Roque, but nothing to prove where he was born or if that was where he originally was from. I have written on my grandparents marriage certificate that we was Manuel de Andrade, but on my aunt's birth certificate it states his full name. He married Maria de Gloria which I found was from Faja de Baixo. I have Eliseu trying to get me a certificate on him and John doing the research so hopefully I can get somewhere on this line.
