Was your mother baptized at St. Dominic's? If so, wouldn't they have
had a record of it? Was she listed in the 1930 US Census
enumeration? I'm interested in Benicia Azorean-Americans because my
father and his siblings were all born in Benicia, although most of my
immediate family had left for the East Bay by 1928. From my research
into US Census enumerations I'm aware that from 1900-1920 Benicia's
Portuguese population burgeoned significantly (my family had arrived
in the late 1870s, so were a generation ahead, and thus apparently
quite assimilated by the turn of the century). Katharine.
