Thanks Margaret, Cheri and Eric Your answers helped me believe strongly that i HAVE found the right person with Manoel Soares de Medeiros but i have another dilemma with the birth and death records. My great grandmother Jacinta Emilia Soares was born in Ribeira Cha ,7 March 1861 and baptized 7 Apr. 1861 in Agua de Pau ( i believe that Ribeira Cha had no church yet at this time) Jacinta's marriage on 28 Oct. 1885 to her husband Antonio Ambrosio de Araujo confirms her age. I have now found a death record for a little baby girl Antonia who died at 9 months old in Ribeira Cha to Francisco Soares and Roza de Almeida (same parents as Jacinta) Antonia's grandparents are listed as pat.Manoel Soares and Roza Joaquina and mat. Antonia de Almeida and Antonia de Jesus (both sides are same grandparents as Jacinta) Jacinta and Antonia could not have been born this close together....but the family names seem all correct. What could be happening here?
