Dear Marcio,

The George (Jorge) b 1880 married to Arminda was born in the Azores, Sao Jorge.
He came to America in 1898. He had left the Azores with some cousins. Some of
those cousins got off in Brazil. Two stayed with him to America.

My mother remembers an Uncle Manuel and an Uncle John that were his brothers.
One of them had a wife named Rose.

George (Jorge) and Arminda's children were the ones to start the Calif line.

George married Catherine Cook b 1912, Concrete, Wa
Henry married Catherine's sister Nina Jane Cook. He had a son named Henry Jr.
William married (?) they had a daughter named Gertrude. She was one of the
Princesses for the Manteca Festa back in the 50s.
So I have some of the info on the 9 siblings also.

Arminda's birth mother Maria d'Asension Diaz died on the boat Manuel Luis(z)
was Capt. of. At that time the family lived on Terciera. I do not know where
Arminda was born.
Manuel took Arminda to Sao Jorge after her mother's death so relatives could
help raise her. I do not know if he ever remarried. I was told he did this
after dark because he was the capt of a slave ship.
