Here is another intrusion. A gazillion years ago PAT AMARAL sent me her
pedigree chart.
She listed her father as Joseph and her mother as Elnua (spelling ??).
She listed 4 and 5 generations.
I remember in a conversation that she mentioned MARTHA's VINEYARD.
I have a folder, full of correspondence, that is over an inch thick.
Who were the parents of your grandfather and his sister? I will look and
see if
Pat has them listed in her pedigree.
BTW Pat was pretty sure that I am related to her husband GIL AMARAL.

I have to confirm this but:
I do have family from "I believe" from my Grandfathers Sister Francisca from
MV, it must be her daughter ?
Married name was Pat Amaral, she wrote "They ploughed the seas: Profiles of
Azorean master mariners"
I also read that Gil and Pat Amaral have a book or log of Portuguese
tombstones in New Bedford
This is new all new to me, I never met PAt, but she contacted some of my
long lost cousins about 20 years ago.

I live in El Salvador now in the coffee mountains overlooking the Pacific.
We just finished our annual party for all of the employees of our community
with their children. 100 plus, the are so genuine and grateful.
My heart has always been open to all peoples and now I find I have a new
mission.
I am enamored by finding out WHY for my whole life I have love the sea,
Islands, volcanoes and believe it
or not earthquakes! ... I was born in San Francisco, lived in Los Anglers
and now El Salvador all earthquakes zones.

I found Manuel Garcia Dias on a ship list coming from Faial to
Massachucetts 1909. It had fathers name, Victorino Dias Furtado. I took this
to the NEPS site for Faial and hunted around a while to find him in
Feteiria. That gave me the Praia do Almoxarife birthplace. So here is what
appears to be the family tree going back four more generations from the
great grandfather.
