*Hi Cheri, Just checked my email for the first time in a couple of days. Did a quick check in the Flores marriages book and found only one person with the first name Jacob, a Jacob Rodrigues Gervasio married 1901 to Maria do Ceu Alves in Fajazinha. As you know, due to the INFERNAL PORTUGUESE CUSTOM OF AHPHBETIZING BY FIRST NAMES, DOING A LAST NAME SEARCH WOULD BE A LINE BY LINE TASK!! Somebody should convince FANPG to convert his book into a searchable data base.
I knew two Jacobs from Flores, both cousins of mine, both now deceased. Jacob Vasconcelos, a 3rd cousin and Jacob Tomaz Pereira (a 3rd cousin once removed as I recall). If Jacobs was the name by which they were known in the US, what was it in Portugal is the question? There is also the possibility that one or both of them may originally have come from another island.
