For the death certificates, if they died in CA try to get it from the county, if possible, as the state will take 6 months or more. I would try to get their obituaries from the Oakland newspaper. They are buried at Holy Sepulcre Cemetery in Hayward. I tried looking at the newspapers on Ancestry but so far did not find them but there is someone on this list much better than I at obtaining newspaper info. Also if they belonged to any Portuguese organizations, I think Celeste, can guide you in that direction as she is from the area your family came from.
