Hi all, I have been working on my maternal genealogy and have it documented until the second half of 1600's. Being able to know my haplogroup, J1, gave new lights to my research and I hope this will help to break a brick wall I have at the moment, although I'm working in different ways to find more.
The mtDNA on the J group is no more than 8% of the population of the Central and Eastern islands (Santos et al. in Origin of Peopling in the Azores). On the Y DNA, the significance for the J haplogroup is 10% for the Central islands and 11.7% for the Eastern ones (Fernando et al. in Peopling of the Azores). I would like to know if there is anyone in the group that has the Haplogroup J (mtDNA) on the Central islands and the Eastern ones?
